BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WORK
I am a clog dancer and founder/director of Rock Stompers Live!, a Foley-based clogging club and an instructor with the Gopher State Clogging Association.
Clogging originated in the Appalachian Mountains. Recreational and competetive clogging groups can now be found both nationally and internationally.
Clogging is best known for its fast footwork, up and down body movement, and limited arm use. Steel taps are often worn on shoe bottoms to create more noise while dancing.
Cloggers originally freestyled to bluegrass music. Currently, most active cloggers participate in the precision-style, with dancers in lines or formations to choreographed routines. The music is generally classic and contemporary rock, pop, bluegrass and country music.
