
At the May 10, 2018 meeting, the Central MN Arts Board (CMAB) awarded $36,348 in Public Art Grants to two local recipients.
The CMAB Public Art program provides funds for the completion of well-planned works of public art that are accessible to the general public and supported by the community. An organization must provide a minimum of 25% in matching funds. Public Art Grant funds are provided through Minnesota’s Arts & Culture Legacy Fund.
- City of Monticello, $13,048, for a kinetic mural created from the photograph “Little Mary Morning Blues” by artist Chris Lommel. The mural will consist of thousands of reflective tiles to depict the shimmering reflective movement of a lake on Broadway St East in Monticello facing Highway 25.
- Community Legacy Foundation, $23,300, for a Children’s Story Book Mural designed by artist Roger Reinardy that will depict numerous characters from children’s storybooks located on Main Street South in Sauk Centre next to the Bryant Library.
- The Central Minnesota Arts Board (CMAB) strives to enhance appreciation of the essential economic and social roles the arts play in Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright counties by providing grants and professional development services to arts and community organizations, schools, government units and individuals.
