Public Art Grants Awarded to Area Organizations


At the May 14, 2020 meeting, the Central Minnesota Arts Board (CMAB) awarded $19,695 in Public Art Grants to area organizations. The CMAB Public Art program provides funds for the completion of well-planned works of public art that are accessible to the general public and supported by the community. Public Art Grants are provided through Minnesota’s Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.

• City of Monticello, $7,695, for a modular outdoor mural “A mile in their shoes” by Allison Hunsley that will be created in various public spaced and installed in downtown Monticello August 2020. The theme of empathy will display imagery focused around shoes that symbolize different walks of life and the spectrum of humanity.
•Foley Economic Development Committee, $12,000 for Downtown Foley Mural Project by Robert C. McCoy depicting significant historical elements based on pictures from the Benton County Historical Society to be installed no later than April 2021 on 4th The artist’s design was chosen by residents of the community between four selected artists that were paid to develop a concept for the wall.

The Central Minnesota Arts Board supports collaborative and innovative arts opportunities through partnerships and financial investments in Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, and Wright counties as one of eleven Regional Arts Councils designated by the Minnesota State Arts Board working with community partners to increase access to the unique cultural assets of Minnesota.
