TEACHING ARTIST ROSTER
Painting, Watercolor & Acrylics
I specialize in painting in watercolor and acrylic. I teach art foundations, painting and drawing techniques, and welcome integration of the host teacher’s curriculum that can include science, social studies, or math.
Painting provides the opportunity to articulate ideas and express emotions. My goal is to inspire the imagination and enhance student learning with an unforgettable arts experience.
• Experience levels with art vary, so my goal is provide both group and individual instruction adapted to those ability levels.
• My goal is to have a healthy balance between ‘how to’ instruction and creative freedom. Not everyone can or wants to color within the lines and that is perfectly fine!
• Breakthroughs are a trademark to any residency. A breakthrough can mean different things to different students, but I try to keep an eye out for leaps in progress and make sure to encourage these esteem builders.
Puzzle Mural - Public art at your school created by your students. This is a large scale mural made up of panels that the students design, paint, and help install. Art foundations are covered as well as color theory, emotions, and symbols. The mural theme can be designed to fit individual schools needs / curriculum areas.
River’s Edge Field Trip - This field trip residency allows k-12 students to visit the 28x44 Mississippi river mural and then go back to the Paramount to create an art project that also meets science standards. The projects are generally animal, plant, or ecosystem related but can be individualized to specific needs of the visiting school.
Watercolor & Science - Designed to meet k-6 science standards revolving around natural systems in MN, students paint the state’s major biomes including their plant and animal life. Higher age students can investigate the effects that pollution has on these environments.
